William Iton

WILLIAM ITON

Mr. William Iton earned his first degree in Sociology from UWI, Mona a postgraduate diploma in Tourism Management from McGill University in Montreal, Canada and a Master of laws from the Centre for International Human Rights Law at the University of Essex in the UK.  His multi-disciplinary schooling in sociology, management studies and law gave him varying vantage points to assess the administrative and human resource needs of the university.

He joined the staff of the University of the West Indies, St. Augustine Campus in 1981 where he served in Administration.   He was later appointed to the post of Campus Registrar in 1999, a position he held for five years.  He subsequently went on to work in the Private sector, serving as Assistant General Manager, Human Resources at First Citizens Bank Ltd.

He returned to the University in 2007, and was appointed University Registrar.  In addition to his formal education, Will Iton brought a ton of experience from the trade unions, banking, telecommunications and 23 years of service to UWI prior to taking up the post of University Registrar.

The University of the West Indies salutes him for soldiering in the trenches, winning the battles, steadying the administrative ship of state and for being a transformative leader.

Mr. Iton retired from the UWI in 2019.
