Terms & Conditions
1. PURPOSE & DESCRIPTION OF AWARD
This Award is established to support students pursuing the following programmes:
- MPhil in the Faculty of Science and Technology or
- MSc in Medical Physics with specialisation in Radiotherapy, Nuclear Medicine and Diagnostics; Nuclear Sciences; Biomedical Radiation Science; or Biomedical Instrumentation.
2. ELIGIBILITY REQUIREMENTS
The applicant must (be/have):
- A Jamaican national
- Under the age of 28
- Pursuing a postgraduate degree in one of the programmes in (i) MPhil in the Faculty of Science and Technology or (ii) MSc in Medical Physics with specialisation in Radiotherapy, Nuclear Medicine and Diagnostics; Nuclear Sciences; Biomedical Radiation Science; or Biomedical Instrumentation.
- An Employee of The UWI or their dependents
- Verifiable financial need
- High academic performance (at least a GPA of 3.0 or equivalent; must maintain high academic performance throughout the programme.
3. VALUE OF AWARD
- Up to J$1.05 million (for the MPhil programme) or J$1.2 million (for the MSc programme)
- The award covers/contributes to the tuition and may provide a small stipend
- The Awardee may apply for other scholarships/grants and loans to cover other costs
4. DURATION OF AWARD: One year (3rd year)
5. GRANT/SCHOLARSHIP APPLICATION REQUIREMENT
All applications shall be accompanied by the following documents:
- Transcript from UWI covering Year 1 (once you were given an offer by The UWI, we can retrieve copy transcript)
- A one-page essay on the Applicant’s educational goals
- 2 referee reports/letters
6. SELECTION PROCESS
- The scholarship will be advertised on campus and/ or any other University media (and by any other institution named by the Donor).
- Short-listed candidates will be interviewed by a panel including personnel from UWI, the Donor and any other representative, as selected by the Donor.
7. HOW TO APPLY
