Contesting Gender Identity in Sports

The second episode in the Debates in Sports Ethics series was held on April 26th and featured panellists Prof. Devarakonda, Dr. Sue-Ann Barratt, Mr. Keith Josephs and Dr. Aldeam Facey.  The webinar was moderated by Dr. Akshai Mansingh.  Some of the questions the panellists answered included:

  • What is the difference between Gender and Sex?
  • Why is there a difference from a sporting perspective?
  • Why has this suddenly come to the fore in sport?
  • How is gender identity seen in ethics?

Through this forum, we hope the audience will have a better understanding of the gender identity discussion in sports and related ethical considerations.
