Dr Kizanne James-McCarthy awarded Rising Star Accolade as part of University of Southampton’s Inaugural Outstanding Alumni Awards
The School of Health Sciences at the University of Southampton is delighted to announce that School alumni, Dr Kizanne James-McCarthy, has received the Rising Star award at the University’s Inaugural Outstanding Alumni Awards this year. The Rising Star Award is presented to an alumnus who graduated from Southampton no more than five years ago, and who has made an outstanding contribution in their field or to society.

Farewell to a Caribbean Social Work pioneer - Dr. John A. Maxwell
Dr. John A. Maxwell joined The UWI Mona in 1971 as a Lecturer in the Department of Sociology and Social Work (now Department of Sociology, Psychology and Social Work). He was promoted to Senior Lecturer in 1989 and served as Head of Department from 1993 to 2000 and then as Deputy Dean of the Faculty of Social Sciences.
