He attained a BSc in Agriculture in 1974 and a doctoral degree in Tropical agriculture in 1979 from The University of the West Indies St. Augustine Campus and has been a practicing farmer for the past thirty years. As a research fellow in The UWI Department of Crop Physiology, he was the first scientist to unearth the methodology of promoting flowering in Aroids, a strategy that is currently utilized internationally in developing this family of plants through hybridisation.
A team of volunteers successfully moved the UWIAA Jamaica Chapter into the Alumni House at Mona as their 2015 Labour Day Project. The UWIAA President, Cecile Clayton and her Executive Team, are happy that the Chapter will now operate from 28 West Road which is located behind the Mona School of Business and adjacent to the Faculty of Medical Sciences. The UWIAA Representative Mrs. Charmaine Wright will operate from 9 a.m. – 1 p.m.
