After enjoying an array of local and international dishes, UWI Director of the Office of Institutional Advancement and Internationalisation, Mr. Sharan Chandradath Singh, welcomed guests and introduced Ms. Frances Seignoret, Director of the Europe Division in the Ministry of the Foreign Affairs, who brought greetings on behalf of the Honorable Minister Winston Dookeran. Professor Sankat then made a presentation formally introducing The University, its unique strengths, its international linkages with institutions throughout the world and an overview of the many ongoing collaborations with foreign missions and international organizations in Trinidad and Tobago.

After the presentation, a highly interactive discussion took place where international research projects and opportunities for new, innovative partnerships were explored. On leaving, guests were presented with gift bags that contained publications on UWI’s unique strengths and areas of research, as well as premium dark chocolate bars made from the renowned international genebank at the UWI’s Cocoa Research Unit (CRU).
