The UWIMAA Canadian Chapter seeks to involve physicians and medical students of all cohorts, to support all, especially younger doctors, to maintain and expand their professional contacts and advance their education and career.

We can support fellow UWI Medical Alumni who choose to come to Canada to complete residency, fellowship, research purposes or various medical activities. The Canadian Chapter consists of UWI medical alumni who have experience in the Canadian Health System through living, practicing or having completed postgraduate training.

The Pelican Award:  

The Pelican award is the highest award that a UWIAA Chapter may bestow. It is thus highly prestigious. The Pelican Award is a special alumni accolade and indicates how very proud the fellow alumni of the awardee are, of his/her, national, regional and/or international success and renown.

E - MENTORSHIP: A way to help students quickly - in real time

Alumni Online Engagement Service: Alumni may become E-Mentors and share professional and career expertise, responding to student queries via email, within 24 hours. 

ONE-ON-ONE MENTORSHIP: Volunteer to assist the campus based Mentorship Programmes 

Face to Face Engagement: Alumni who wish to volunteer to become one-on-one mentors for undergraduate students may contact the Campus Student Services Offices and sign up. 

AEP - Lecturers

In line with the UWI Triple A Strategic Plan, Deans have been asked to expose students to the world of work and the AEP is a part of this larger project for which Deputy Deans are responsible. This information will be reported to Faculty Board and will assist with Accreditation and Rankings, as an engaged alumni population is a reflection of a positive student experience.
