The UWI Mona’s Faculty of Science and Technology is excited to announce the establishment of the Faculty of Science and Technology Endowment Fund, a transformative initiative aimed at fostering innovation, research, and academic excellence within the realm of science and technology.
Professor Sir Kenneth Octavius Hall expressed his deep gratitude and pride during a commemoration ceremony where the university honoured him by renaming the Mona Campus Annex Building to the Kenneth Hall Administration Building. The event brought together former colleagues, years-long friends, and esteemed guests to celebrate the remarkable legacy of The Most Honourable Professor, Sir Kenneth Octavius Hall, ON, GCMG, OJ.
The Faculty of Science and Technology at The University of the West Indies, (UWI) Mona, will be introducing a new course aimed at equipping students with a broad foundation in the burgeoning field of electric mobility. Commencing in Semester 2 of the Academic Year 2023-2024, the Faculty will be offering “Electric Mobility - Fundamentals of EV Technologies.” Considered a pioneering initiative, this new offering seeks to expose UWI graduates to the future of sustainable transportation.

Dr. Michelle McLeod, a Senior Lecturer at The University of the West Indies Mona Campus in Kingston, Jamaica, has unveiled groundbreaking research shedding light on the intricacies of policy-making within the Caribbean tourism community. Titled ‘Tourism policy networks in four Caribbean countries,’ the paper delves into the dynamics of formal power and its influence on policy roles among tourism actors in Antigua and Barbuda, Barbados, Jamaica, and Trinidad and Tobago.

The University of the West Indies (UWI) mourns the passing of Emeritus Professor of English, Edward Alston Cecil Baugh, a quintessential scholar and gentleman who exemplified the ideals of The University of the West Indies, both as a student and later as an academic who spent thirty-five immensely productive and intellectually impactful years here as a teacher, writer, administrator, and scholar. His death on December 9, 2023 represents an immense loss to Caribbean literary studies.
