UWIAA Incoming Alumni and Council Representatives

Craig Tuckett will be the 2021- 23 Alumni Representative and will serve for two years. Dwayne Haynes will be the 2021-22 Council Representative and will serve for one year. Both appointments are effective August 1, 2021. They will serve on the University Finance and General Purposes Committee, University Appointments Committee and the University Council; will give input from the alumni perspective and will liaise with the Director of Alumni Relations, Institutional Advancement Division (IAD) to promote alumni engagement and philanthropy.

UWI alumna Dr. Carla Natalie Barnett is the new CARICOM Secretary-General

The UWI congratulates Dr. Carla Natalie Barnett who was announced as the 8th Secretary-General of CARICOM on Tuesday May 11, 2020. The two-time UWI graduate has made history as the first woman to be appointed to the post.

Professor Herbert Sukhu

Professor Herbert Sukhu PhD, has been appointed to the key, and strategically important position of Associate Vice President – Research, at the Nature Science Research and Innovation Centre Inc. in Ontario, Canada, (NSRIC).

He is responsible for securing the smooth operations toward establishing a strong Research-based Engineering (EN) Unit under the Research, Innovation, and Development (RID) Division. This administrative position is additional to his regular role as a Distinguished Faculty-Engineering Economics member with the  NSRIC RID Division.

Alison Stone Roofe

UWI Alumna Alison Stone Roofe is Jamaica’s new permanent representative to the International Seabed Authority (ISA). She presented her credentials to ISA Secretary General Michael W Lodge during a ceremony held at ISA Secretariat in Kingston.

She holds a Master of Philosophy in International Relations from University of Oxford, England, and Master of Science and Bachelor of Science degrees from The UWI.
