Vice-Chancellor, Professor Sir Hilary Beckles extends condolences on behalf of The University of the West Indies (The UWI) community to the family and loved ones of Sir Derek Walcott who passed away on Friday 17 March, 2017. Walcott, an alumnus of The UWI Mona Campus, graduated in 1953 and was awarded an honorary (DLitt) in 1973. His literary works are known and lauded internationally and he was awarded the Nobel Prize in Literature in 1992.

The ceremony will be held in Belize, where Dr. Longsworth has lived and worked for many years. It takes place at the River Hall, Best Western Belize Biltmore Plaza, Belize City, from 6:00 p.m. Belize time/8:00 p.m.

A day to celebrate women and highlight the challenges they face. In more recent years the United Nations (UN) has seen it fitting to call to awareness critical issues related to gender equality and women’s rights and implemented Millennium Development Goals for women and girls.
On April 17th, RBC & UWI Cave Hill Campus are holding a charitable walk and run to benefit the UWI Cave Hill Campus Scholarship Fund. The walk will start at 4:00 p.m. from the RBC University Drive Branch to The Usain Bolt Complex.
