Saint Lucian author Loverly Sheridan released her first book, A Girl Like Me in her native island. The book launch took place at The University of The West Indies Open Campus St.
{gallery}http://www.flickr.com/photos/theuwi/sets/72157630728717384/{/gallery} The University of the West Indies(UWI) has partnered with the Arthur Ashe Institute for Urban Health in New York, through the J.William Fulbright NEXUS Scholarship Programme, and local NGOs, to establish the Social Determinants of Health Internship Training Programme for secondary school students.
The Internship targets fifth and sixth form students specifically. It accommodates 20 interns and will last for four weeks, from July 16th to August 17th, 2012.
The programme was launched at UWI's Faculty of Medical Sciences, Eric Williams Medical Sciences Complex,Mt. Hope.
The Ecuadorian Minister of Foreign Affairs, Trade and Integration, His Excellency Mr. Ricardo Patiño, accompanied by his delegation, visited the St. Augustine Campus of The University of the West Indies (UWI) on Tuesday 17th July, 2012, to meet with the Campus administration, as well as with representatives of Trinidad and Tobago’s Ministry of Foreign Affairs, to discuss forging a relationship between the two countries.
Acting Campus Principal and Dean of the Faculty of Science and Agriculture, Professor Dyer Narinesingh, as well as representatives of the various Faculties, Departments and Units on Campus, greeted the visitors at the Campus Principal’s Office where they discussed UWI’s role in this partnership.
The meeting ended with an official agreement to begin collaborations as soon as possible.
