Here is a story that only a few people know:
…That iconic mural that fills one wall in the Dining Room of the Mary Seacole Hall at the UWI Mona; the one with dancers twirling across the lawns…is something in which I’m proud to have played a lasting role.

Office of the Pro Vice-Chancellor and Principal, 26/7/2017: In the lush gardens of Sandals LaSource, Pink Gin Beach, Point Salines, St. George's, twenty-five UWI Alumni gathered on Thursday, July 6, 2017 at 5:00 p.m. to bid adieu to Sir George Alleyne, Chancellor of The University of the West Indies for his stellar service to The UWI and his outstanding contribution to the alumni which he served as Patron.
UWI Alumnus, Dr. The Hon. Hubert Alexander Minnis M.D. is the fourth Prime Minister of the Commonwealth of the Bahamas. Dr. Minnis graduated from the Faculty of Medicine, UWI Mona, in 1980 with the Bachelor of Medicine and Bachelor of Surgery degree (M.B.B.S.) and completed his specialized studies in Jamaica in Obstetrics and Gynecology in 1985. He is a Member of the Royal College of Obstetrics and Gynecology (MRCOG) and a Fellow of The Royal College of Obstetrics and Gynecology (FRCOG).
The UWI Regional Headquarters Jamaica. 21 July 2017 – Dr Akshai Mansingh has been appointed as Dean of the new Faculty of Sport at The University of the West Indies (The UWI). Dr Mansingh was selected following a search for candidates which concluded in June 2017. His appointment is effective from August 1, 2017.
