Vincentian Kimberley Cambridge will be a Fulbright Foreign Student and Barbadian Samuel Soyer will be the Fulbright Scholar in Residence for 2015/16. They will have their programmes funded by the U.S. Government.
The UWI community across the region, and in our many Diasporas beyond, stood at the finish line to welcome ‘Dr Bolt’ to the place he has made his very own. In his congratulatory statement UWI Vice-Chancellor Professor Sir Hilary Beckles said, “It's a global space that he has domesticated for his Caribbean folk who foretold that no Beijing bird nest would contain the flight of the pelican”.
The former Vice Chancellor of the UWI, Professor E Nigel Harris will be nominated for the post of Chancellor of the University of Guyana (UG).
The government of Guyana will nominate Professor Harris to serve as UG Chancellor. Professor Harris served as UWI Vice Chancellor from 2004 to 2015. He was also Chairman of Barbados-based Caribbean Examinations Council; Chairman of the Association of Commonwealth Universities; and he is currently President of the Caribbean Association of Universities, Colleges and Institutes.
Dr. Cleopatra Doumbia-Henry (LL.B, LL.M, Ph.D International Law) was born in the Commonwealth of Dominica and is Director ofthe International Labour Standards Department of the International Labour Office in Geneva, Switzerland. She began her career at the UWI, Cave Hill Campus, as a lecturer in law.
