UWI Regional Headquarters, Jamaica – Five outstanding faculty members and one Research Centre at The University of the West Indies will receive the 2013 Vice-Chancellor’s Awards for Excellence during the week of graduation ceremonies this coming October.

The conference sought to examine the Economics of Regions with Extractive Industries; Governance Issues in Regions with Extractive Industries; Managing Multi-stakeholder Development In Regions with Extractive Industries; Local Content and Development in Regions with Extractive Industries; Macroeconomic Challenges: Linking Extractive Industries to the Wider Economy; Corporate Social Responsibility in Regions with Extractive Industries; Economic Diversification In Regions with Extractive Industries; and The Role of Civil Society in Regions with Extractive Industries.
Additionally, as part of the community outreach TEDU also hosted a secondary school’s 3-D poster competition. This competition sought to highlight and encourage sustainable development in communities that house extractive industries.
