Rain, thunder and lightning. One man died and another unconscious after lightning struck them while working in the Canefields. No data on losses suffered.

The overtopping of both conservancies caused extensive flooding Guyana’s Coastal Communities requiring many families to be evacuated and accommodated in Emergency Shelters at several locations throughout the country. The impact of the flood damage was concentrated within the coastal administrative regions of West Demerara/Essequibo Islands, Demerara/Mahaica, and Mahaica/West Berbice. These areas comprise approximately 62.4% of the population of Guyana.
One night of torrential rain caused the flooding. Linmines Machine shop was forced to close operations temporarily. Persons living in lower flats were under as much as two feet of water in their flats. 32892 homes were affected. Losses were estimated at millions (possibly Guyanese currency), but no specific data was available.
