1938 Heavy Rains

Unprecedented violent rain-storm in October 1938 resulted in the loss of 5 lives, widespread damage to cultivation, roads, bridges and telephone lines over the southern portion
of the island. The main bridge over the St. John’ river which led to the town of St. George’s being completed destroyed.
