Hurricane Flora 1963

Hurricane Flora hit Grenada with winds of 125mph. On Grenada damage was minor but 6 persons lost their lives by drowning. The airport, bridges and roads were damaged. Telephone service was disrupted, and roads were blocked by fallen trees. Damage was estimated at 20,000 Pounds. Grenada was lashed by the storm for nearly 90 minutes and suffered banana crop losses up to 40 % in some areas.
