Hurricane France 2004

Hurricane came in on 2-3 September as a Category 3 hurricane with winds of 145mph; Although it fluctuated it reached a peak wind force of 240 km per hour on September 2 at 2 a.m. and with that force directly over the island of San Salvador and very near to Cat Island
This slow moving hurricane caused Several feet of flooding at Freeport airport, flooding of many homes, Loss of electricity for 75 % of residents, Hurricane Frances combined with Hurricane Jeanne of the same year caused direct and indirect damaged and economic losses worth more than 550 USD million, more than 10 % of the previous year current G.D.P, as a result economic activity was expected to fall 1.7 % in 2004. According to the Bahamas Department of Meteorology it was the first storm since 1886 to impact the entire Bahamian archipelago.
