Hurricane Wilma 2005

Hurricane registered max of 120mph. 1 death of a child in the floods/. Heavy Rain and flooding in Bahamas, large scale flooding because of storm surge leading to homes being washed away. It hit Bahamas as a Cateogy 3 hurricane. Storm surge of 10-15 mph. Grand Bahamas and Bimini received the brunt of the hurricane. Abaco, Berry Islands and New Providence received minor damage to utlility poles and trees. In Grand Bahamas more than 7000 people affected; sea surge of 15 to 20 ft affected communities in that island with electricity and tephone services affected. The West end of that island was estimated to have 800 homes destroyed and 4000 were left homeless; the western portion of Grand Bahamas was estimated to have damage of 100 million USD. In Bimini there was significant damaged to homes, utlity ploes and trees.
