Tropical Storm Tomas 2010

Tropical storm force winds extend outward up to 140 miles...220 km from the center. During the past hour...a wind gust to 63 mph...100 Km/hr was reported on Barbados. Information from the Barbados Meteorological service indicates that damage to homes and downed Power lines have been reported on the island. Initial reports indicate that several homes have had their roofs blown away and several cars had been crushed by fallen trees and utility poles. Medical officials were reporting that they had received several calls from persons suffering from various injuries and that they were being advise not to travel to the hospitals or health clinics until the “all clear” had been given. The regional airline LIAT and American Airlines announced that they had cancelled flights into and out of the Grantley Adams International Airport on the island's southern tip.
