Tropical Storm Arthur 1990

Arthur formed as a tropical wave off the coast of Africa on 18 July 1990. A maximum flight level wind speed of 47 mph just northeast of the center at an altitude of 1500 foot and a maximum surface wind of 46 mph was estimated, along with 1005 mb surface pressure. This data in combination with satellite intensity estimated were the bases for upgrading the depression to Tropical Storm Arthur. Arthur, which was the second tropical storm of the 1990 Atlantic hurricane season on the 25th July 1990, hit both the island of Tobago and Grenada.

Tropical Storm Danielle 1986

Tropical Storm “DANIELLE” passed 90km NE of Tobago on September 8th, 1986.

“Tropical Storm Danielle has caused millions of dollars in damage to property and livestock
in Trinidad and Tobago… the tail end of the storm drenched both islands on Monday…”

Hurricane Alma 1974

Tropical Storm Alma of 1974 made landfall on Trinidad on August 14 with estimated winds of 74 km/h. However, wind gusts of 91km/hr were measures in Matura and 147 km/h in Savonetta. Damage was extensive, especially along the strip from Plum Mitan to California. The storm was responsible for one death directly and another indirectly in its passage over Trinidad. 50,000 people were affected and damage estimated at 5,000, 000 USD.
