Flooding Event 1993

Five persons died as between 60 and 100 mm of rain pelted the northwest and west of Trinidad shortly after noon on the 5th October 1993. The rains fell for two hours swelling rivers, causing landslides, blocking roads and felling trees." This brief torrential rain triggered heavy flooding and mudslides and affected a region of 1,170km ². Ten persons were left homeless as a result of the flooding event and an estimated 70,000 USD in damage occurred.
