Port au Prince was left relatively unscathed, except for flooding in the low-lying area of Cite Soleil and damage to the main commercial port. Jacmel was hit by flood waters that damaged several neighborhoods and cut off road access to outlying neighborhoods. Low-lying areas around the city are also in danger of flash floods and ensuing mudslides -- as are the low-lying areas in Croix des Missions, Gonaives, Hinche, Anse a Galets, and Leogane. Torrential rain from Hurricane Gordon caused catastrophic loss of life in Haiti. Gordon produced heavy rain over Jamaica, eastern Cuba and Hispaniola. In Hispaniola the persistent southerly flow to the east of the broad circulation that accompanied Gordon, combined with upslope motion over steep topography, generated prolonged rains that led to disastrous floods and mud slides. Although the exact death count will probably never be known, flooding and mudslides caused catastrophic loss of life in Haiti.

13 fatalities caused as a result of several days of torrential rain between the 5th May 1993 and 2nd June 1993.
