1975 Drought - 8/1/1975

As a result of lack of rain and grave water problems

• In Clarendon -As a result of the drought public and private buildings had to be temporarily closed. These included the Bustamante Secondary School Lionel Town Hospital Clarendon College and other school’s hospitals and public buildings.
• Kingston/ St.Andrew - Water restrictions and lock-offs were in effect for those areas supplied from the Hermitage Dam.
• St. Elizabeth- As a result of the drought livestock perished and there was a food shortage in the Pedro Plains of St. Elizabeth.
• St. James- As a result of the drought farmers suffered grave losses in cattle and food crops.
