Hurricane Tomas 2010

The intense northern eyewall passed over St. Lucia (Fig. 4). Tomas was at its peak intensity of 85 kt during that time. Tomas produced phenomenal rainfall in St. Lucia, with totals ranging from 21 to 25 inches and a maximum total of 26.3 inches from Desraches over about a 23-h period.

Hurricane Dean 2007

Hurricane Dean affected the country on the 16 and 17 August 2007. B y the morning o f Friday 17, the centre of Dean had crossed the Lesser Antilles between Saint Lucia and Martinique. The meteorological service of Martinique reported sustained winds of 76 mph, with gusts up to 104 mph. The minimum pressure in the eye was measured at 964MB. The latest imagery also showed a definite eye feature. The official forecast called for strengthening as Dean crossed the Caribbean Sea.

Hurricane Ivan 2004

In the Caribbean Sea region, the Caribbean Development Bank (CDB) estimates the damage at more than US$3 billion -- US$1.85 billion in the Cayman Islands, US$815 million in Grenada, US$360 million in Jamaica, US$40 million in St. Vincent and the Grenadines, and US$2.6 million in St Lucia. Gusts of 76 (kt) were experienced in the country. Total rain was 6 inches.
