Hurricane Noel 2007

Haiti was pounded with heavy rain from Tropical Storm Noel. Noel produced several days of torrential rainfall across Hispaniola and Cuba. The maximum rainfall report received from Haiti was 25.78 in from Camp Perrin, located near Cayes along the southwestern coast of Hispaniola. The exact number of deaths in Haiti has been somewhat difficult to determine, as counts have ranged from 57 to 103. Media reports from Reuters on 8 November stated that authorities have confirmed 57 fatalities.

Hurricane Ivan and Jeanne 2004

A combination of two hurricanes, Ivan and Jeanne, caused massive damage in Haiti in September of 2004. Although Ivan’s impact was serious, with flooding causing damage in several regions across the country, it was only the beginning of the devastation. Then Hurricane Jeanne hit. This storm’s path took it across the western section of Haiti and the Artibonite, causing massive levels of flooding that killed 3,000 people, while also injuring thousands and displacing over 300,000 from their homes.
